Born in São Paulo, Thiago Bordin completed his dance education at the Ballet School of São Paulo and the Akademie des Tanzes Mannheim (scholarship from the Tanzstiftung Birgit Keil and the Akademie des Tanzes Mannheim). He joined THE HAMBURG BALLET in 2001 and was promoted to Soloist in 2005. One year later he was promoted to Principal.
He won several awards including First Prize as best up-and-coming Young Dancer in Joinville, Brazil 1997, Silver Medal in Brasilia, Brazil 1999, Finalist at the Prix de Lausanne 2000, First Prize of the Tanzstiftung Birgit Keil 2000, First Prize in Helsinki 2001, Finalist at the Grand Prix d'Eurovision for Young Dancers in London (Covent Garden) 2001, The German Dance Prize "Future" 2005 (Category: Choreographer), Dr.-Wilhelm-Oberdörffer-Prize 2006, Nominated for "The Faust 2006" for his performance of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Benois de la danse 2010 for his interpretation of Armand in Lady of the Camellias, Premio Positano Léonide Massine 2010.
